Global Medical Device Database

medregdata.com

A project brief for medical device practitioners

About

MedRegData brings medical device registration data from separate regulators into one place, then cleans, translates, and links it. One search box shows who registered which product in which country, and which companies are connected.

Registration data is more than a compliance file. It is a map for reading a market and finding an opening. This page is for companies taking products abroad: see the rules, the path, the competitors, and who is already selling there before talking about cost, timing, and the next step.

22Global databases
Still adding databases, with coverage planned for 100+ countries.

Still growing, toward 50 million+, with fields you will not find on the official sites.

English search, plus the local language of each market.

Why / Pain points

  • Scattered dataFDA, EUDAMED, PMDA, TGA, and the rest each run their own system. Even members of the same union keep separate databases. Checking one product means opening dozens of official sites, and the results still cannot be compared side by side.
  • Hidden pathsOfficial entry points are nested, and some only offer a bulk download. People who do not already know that regulation often cannot tell where to start looking.
  • Too large to openA single source can hold hundreds of thousands or millions of rows. Excel will not open them or filter them, and the raw files are often XML or an archive.
  • Language barriersInterfaces and fields come in Japanese, German, Russian, Thai, Arabic, and more. The same product has different names in different countries, so keywords do not line up.
  • Nothing links upCompanies, products, classifications, and certificates are not tied together. Seeing every certificate one company holds worldwide is close to impossible.
  • Too few fieldsOfficial sites often search only by certificate number or name. You cannot filter by product category, classification code, date, and country together.

What we built

  • One structureCompany, product, classification, risk class, date, and status map to one field set, so different countries can sit in the same table.
  • One search boxOne box queries several regulators at once. Product name, company name, certificate number, and classification code all work as a starting point.
  • Linked analysisAggregate by company or product category to see trends and distribution. From one record, follow competitors, upstream and downstream, and its registration history.
  • Cross-language termsBoth Chinese and English search, and product terms are mapped across languages. Searching the Chinese word for a glucose meter still finds the matching records in each country.

Who it is for

Regulatory

Look up equivalent devices, compare classification and approval paths across countries, find predicate products you can cite, and judge which route fits. Registration time and cost can be estimated before filing, instead of discovering the wrong path during submission.

Sales

Search a product term to find similar devices worldwide, plus importers, distributors, and authorized representatives — a background check on the compliant downstream customers. The data shows who sells a competitor’s product in each country, who they sell to, and which certificates have expired or are about to. That turns alternatives and downstream channels into a list, so outreach has a basis and a cold visit is no longer only a guess.

R&D

Use the classification code and intended use to find approved benchmark products, and read their technical characteristics and scope. Early projects wander less, and design inputs stay closer to solutions regulators have already accepted.

Marketing

Take a full view of the data. Count approvals and company distribution by country, category, and time, and read the landscape from compliance records rather than hearsay. When entering a new market or setting the year’s plan, the basis can be traced back to the source.

Product

Group similar products and their manufacturers under one product term, and at the same time see competitor coverage plus the OEMs and suppliers of those products. Competitor analysis and supply-chain selection can happen in the same search.

Global sourcing

Search by product name, classification code, or intended use for manufacturers already approved in the target market, and the certified products those approvals cover. The records show which suppliers are compliant and whether the certificates are still valid.

What is included

Counts are from the medregdata.com homepage on 18 October 2026: 10,115,658 records (10.11 million). Coverage follows that snapshot and moves as each regulator updates.
